John is the CTO at Chief, a company created in 2018 to change the face of leadership by connecting and supporting women executive leaders. At Chief, he oversees the creation of the technology and data science that underlies the sites and mobile apps used every day by its members.
In addition to his work at Chief, John is a member, investor, and advisor with Hyde Park Angels and serves as a tech advisor to startups in Chicago. He is also a passionate advocate for diversity, mentoring in 1871’s Women Influence Chicago and speaking at ChiWiTCon, ARA Mentors, and i.c. Stars events.
Prior to Chief, John served as the CTO for Groupon, Enova, FTD Companies, Wheels, and Applied Systems. Flowers, cars, insurance, money, experiences, and now helping to make leadership more inclusive — proof that technology powers every facet of our lives.
John holds a B.A. from Northern Illinois University and M.S. in IT and Privacy Law, with honors from The UIC-John Marshall Law School, and is a frequent writer on technology, tech law, and leadership topics.
